I’m having trouble updating to the latest version of the MAE app. What should I do?
To ensure you have the latest security features and the best experience, we require all users to update to the latest version of the MAE app. If you’re having trouble, please try these steps:
- Check your Internet connection and network settings
Ensuring a stable internet connection and optimised network settings is the best way to complete your update successfully.
- Switch to Wi-Fi: If you are using mobile data, try connecting to a stable Wi-Fi network.
- Check App Store Settings: Your phone might be set to only download updates over Wi-Fi to save data.
How to check your download settings:
- Android (Google Play): Open the Play Store > Profile Icon > Settings > Network Preferences > App download preference.
- Huawei (AppGallery): Open AppGallery > Me > Settings > Auto-update apps. Check if it's restricted to Wi-Fi only.
- iOS (iPhone): Go to Settings > App Store > App Downloads. Ensure it is set to "Always Allow" or "Ask If Over 200 MB".
- Refresh your App Store App (Clear Cache)
Refreshing the app store helps create the best conditions for a successful update installation.
How to clear your App Store cache:
- Android: Go to Settings > Apps > Google Play Store > Storage > Clear Cache.
- Huawei: Go to Settings > Apps > AppGallery > Storage > Clear Cache.
- iOS (iPhone): Apple doesn't have a "clear cache" button for the App Store. Instead, open the App Store, tap your Profile Icon, and pull down on the screen to refresh the updates list.
- Update your App Store App
If your App Store App is outdated, it may not be able to process the latest updates for the MAE app.
How to update your store:
- Android (Google Play): Open the Play Store > Profile Icon > Settings > About > Update Play Store.
- Huawei (AppGallery): Open AppGallery > Me > Check for updates.
- iOS (iPhone): The App Store is updated through your phone's system. Go to Settings > General > Software Update to ensure your phone is up to date.
- Check your storage space
For the best update experience, please ensure your device has at least 500MB of free space.
How to check your storage:
- Android/Huawei: Settings > Storage.
- iOS: Settings > General > iPhone Storage.
If your phone storage is full, try deleting old photos, unused apps, or clearing your browser history to free up space.
Note:
We recommend a quick restart to refresh your mobile system and ensure a successful installation.
