For new issuance and replacement of Debit Cards, cardmembers are required to perform at least one (1) successful PIN transaction at Point-of-Sales (POS) terminal to activate the contactless payment feature on the card.

Please be informed that effective 16th October 2019, we have revised the Maximum Purchase Limit of Maybank Debit Card from RM5,000 to RM10,000 for Classic Debit Card and from RM10,000 to RM20,000 for Platinum Debit Card. How to apply

For all Maybank Savings or Current Account holders. Parents/guardian of Imteen Account holders (aged 12 to 18) are required to sign the Indemnity Letter at the branch

For existing Maybank Debit Cardholder:

Visit any Maybank branches or replace online via Maybank2u following the steps below:

  1. Log in to Maybank2u (www.maybank2u.com.my)
  2. Go to ‘Settings’ and select ‘Cards'
  3. Under ‘Manage Debit Cards’, go to ‘Debit Card – Replace, Renew, Activate & Block’ and select ‘Replace/Renew Card’

Note: RM12 replacement fee will apply


For new Maybank Accountholder:

Open a new account at any Maybank branches, via the MAE app, or on Maybank2u. During the online application, request for the debit card and enter your delivery address to have it mailed to you.

For account opening via MAE app, refer following steps:

  1. Launch MAE App > ‘More’ > ‘Apply’ > ‘Accounts’
  2. Select ‘Savings Account’
  3. Fill up the forms and perform eKYC as per guided steps
  4. Select the Maybank Visa Debit design
  5. Check and confirm your mailing address

Required Documents

Primary Documents:

  • MyKad (IC)/Police or Armed Forces ID Card
  • Birth Certificate and MyKid (i.e. for in-trust and minor accounts)
  • Passport (i.e. for non-residents/foreigner)
  • Minimum Deposit for Current/Saving Account opening:
    • RM250 (individuals, joint & minor accounts)
    • RM50 (with letter of employment)

Supporting/Secondary Documents:

  • Valid Passport (for Residents)
  • Valid Driving License (for Residents)
  • Utility Bills (e.g. Water/ Electricity/ Telephone Bills, Quit Rent, Assessment Notice) in the name and address of the customer opening the account.
  • Letter of Confirmation from Employer, Educational Institution etc.
  • Credit Card (if any)
