Secure2u Approvals Now Enhanced with Biometric Authentication

EN BM

Dear Valued Customers,

Starting 29 October 2025, we will roll out biometric authentication for Secure2u approvals on the MAE app in stages, giving you greater security in your online banking experience. This marks another step in our stand against fraud so you can continue to bank with us with peace of mind.

With this enhancement, every Secure2u approval will be paired with your device’s biometric authentication (Face ID/Facial Recognition or Fingerprint) to prevent unauthorised transaction approvals. This is on top of our other anti-fraud measures such as one-device access, Malware Shielding, and Money Lock, so you stay secure at every step of your banking journey with us.

What this means for you:

  • Stronger defence against malware and fraud attempts
  • Extra protection whenever you approve a transaction
  • Assurance that only you can complete your transactions

We will be rolling out this enhancement for 3rd party transfers, Interbank Fund Transfers (IBFT), Interbank Giro (IBG) and DuitNow transfers first, with more services to follow in later stages.

Here is how it works:

If biometric authentication (Face ID/Facial Recognition or Fingerprint) is enabled on your device:

  1. Perform your transaction
  2. On the Secure2u screen, tap ‘Approve’
  3. Use your Face ID/Facial Recognition or Fingerprint when prompted to verify
  4. Once verified, your transaction is approved

If biometric authentication is not enabled on your device or fails:

Approve using your MAE app PIN when prompted. This is the 6-digit PIN you created when setting up the MAE app

If you suspect someone has unauthorised access to your Maybank2u account, quickly activate the Kill Switch via the MAE app or Maybank2u web to temporarily block access to your account(s) and protect your money.
