About

What is a credit report?

A credit report is basically your financial report card. It shows how you’ve managed your money over time. For example, it contains information on whether you’ve paid your bills on time, how much debt you have and if you’ve applied for any loans.

What is CTOS?

CTOS (CTOS Data Systems Sdn. Bhd.) is Malaysia’s leading credit reporting agency. CTOS provides credit reports that are widely used in Malaysia’s financial system. Banks, financial institutions, law firms and businesses rely on CTOS reports to assess the reliability of individuals or companies before approving loans or credit applications.

Benefits of a credit report

Why do you need a credit report?

Loans and credit card approvals

A clean report increases approval chances and shows you’re a responsible borrower

Better interest rates

Strong credit history can qualify you for lower interest rates, saving you money over time on mortgages, car loans or personal loans

Fraud and identity protection

Regularly reviewing your credit report helps you spot errors or fraud early, protecting your financial health

When is the best time to get a credit report?

Two months before applying for a loan

It can give you an idea of whether your loan is likely to be approved and allows time to improve your score if needed

Before major financial decisions

Reviewing your report helps you make informed choices when taking on big commitments like buying a house or starting a business

Every three months

As a rule of thumb, it’s good practice to check quarterly. This helps with fraud detection and keeps you aware of your overall financial health
