Beware of scammers persuading you to transact via ATM machines.
What is ATM Fraud?
- Caller ID spoofing involves customers receiving phone call from alleged PDRM/SPRM/BNM/Customs/Court and coaxed into performing transfers at the ATM to an unknown 3rd party account. Customers are usually made to believe that legal action will be taken against them if they do not follow the instructions given.
- Alleged fraudsters may also send SMS to customers informing them that they have won some prizes in a competition. Customers are then duped into transferring money to an account in order for them to claim the said prizes. Fraudsters will then immediately siphon the transferred funds from the fraudulent beneficiary account or 'mule account' via immediate cash withdrawal or 3rd party transfer.
