Credit Card Fraud Prevention & Protection

Dear Valued Customers,

Maybank prioritises fraud prevention and constantly implements the highest measures of security for your credit card and banking accounts.

The current requirement for credit card activation ensures that the rightful owner has access to new or replaced cards and can activate for usage. MBB Alerts keep the cardholder informed about all transactions, while 3D secure verifies all online purchases. These measures are in place to prevent and protect Maybank Credit Cards against fraud.

Consider these additional safety measures to safeguard your credit cards:

General credit card safety

  1. Activate your credit card as soon as you receive it.
  2. Do not disclose your credit card PIN or any other confidential details or allow anyone access to your credit cards. This includes strangers, suspicious websites and telemarketers.
  3. Monitor your account balance regularly.
  4. Ensure that the correct card is returned to you after any purchases.
  5. Do not write down your PIN or choose a PIN that is easily associated with you. For example, your birth date.
  6. Beware of phishing scams in the form of emails, calls or messages that request your card information or pose as the bank. Verify these sources before providing any details.
  7. Immediately call the 24-hour Maybank card emergency number 1300 88 6688 (outside Malaysia 603-79490629) should you notice any unknown/unauthorised transactions on your credit cards. You can also temporarily block your card using the MAE app.

Shopping safely during travels

  2. Ensure that you shop at reputable merchants.
  3. Update your travel status to ensure that you are kept informed of your account activities.
  4. Avoid making transactions or accessing personal information when connected to public Wi-Fi networks.
