Hailed as “the greatest living musical theatre composer and lyricist”, Stephen Sondheim revolutionised the entire musical theatre genre through works such as “Sweeney Todd”, “West Side Story”, “Gypsy” and “Into The Woods”. He has received an Academy Award, eight Tony Awards, eight Grammy Awards, a Pulitzer Prize and the Laurence Olivier Award to date. He has even had the honour of having a theatre renamed after him on Broadway.
2015 marks this amazing composer’s 85th birthday. Global celebrations are taking place throughout the year, including all-star galas in London and New York, featuring Broadway’s and West End’s best. Directed by Nell Ng with music direction by Nish Tham, This concert event will bring you some of the most entertaining and moving works by the incredible composer and lyricist that is Stephen Sondheim.
