Dear Valued Customers,

A few of our customers have reported to receive calls from someone posing as a Maybank officer, using a spoofed Caller ID (a method of replacing the original phone number), to trick them on a loan account that they had never applied.

The call appeared to be from one of our branches', e.g. Bukit Bintang Branch (03-21414934). During this call, the individual claims that their personal information have been used for a loan application of RM30,000 or more. The individual also demands funds and will freeze the victims' bank account if they do not fulfil the request.

Do not fall victim to scams or fraud. If you are receiving a similar phone call, here is what you need to do:

  • DO NOT follow the instructions from the unknown caller.
  • Call Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) at 1800-188-030 or e-mail to aduanskmm@cmc.gov.my to lodge a report with these information: Your mobile number, your telecommunication service provider, time and date of call received.
  • DO NOT share your banking details to anyone and DO NOT follow instructions related to this matter. To make a report, please contact our Fraud Hotline at +603-5891 4744 to seek clarification on the authenticity of the call.
