Requirements to open a Foreign Currency Account via M2U

Please read the following conditions before proceeding with your Foreign Currency Account application:
  1. You must maintain a Savings or Current Account with your Foreign Currency Account at the same Maybank branch. Failure to do so will result in an unsuccessful application.
  2. If you have a Savings / Current Account with Maybank, you will need to present yourself at the home branch of your selected account to validate your Foreign Currency Account application.
  3. If you choose to open a Foreign Currency Account at a Maybank Branch other than your existing Savings / Current Account home branch, you will need to open a new deposit account to be linked to your Foreign Currency Account.
  4. If you do not have a deposit account, this application will provide you with one. You can choose any Savings or Current Account to be linked to your Foreign Currency Account.
  5. Please bring along your Identity Card or passport for our reference and the following supporting documents when visiting your Maybank branch to validate your application:
    1. Letter from University/Educational Institution for education abroad
    2. Letter from employer for employment abroad
  6. Customers must both be Non-residents / Residents to maintain a joint account.
  7. The maximum overnight balance for purposes of "Education Abroad" and "Employment Abroad" is up to USD150,000 with licensed onshore banks and licensed Islamic Banks.
