What is a SIM Card Replacement Scam?


Scammers who have obtained your mobile number and your online banking information will steal your identity by making a SIM card replacement via your mobile number carrier. They will then steal money from your bank account, use your number to take over your social media account and more. 

How does a SIM card replacement scam happen?


  • Your online banking information has been compromised and scammers have taken over your account
  • Scammers will then use your personal information like your MyKad Identification number to request for a SIM card replacement
  • Once they have collected the new SIM card, they will then start making fraudulent transactions through your banking account

How to protect yourself from being a victim?


  • Never share your username and password with anyone
  • Change your password regularly once every 3 months
  • Ensure your devices have been protected by anti-malware and anti-virus and it is updated via a trusted source
