FAQ

  1. How do I check or update my mobile device’s OS?
You will need to go to ‘Settings’ on your mobile device and select ‘About Device’. There should be an option for you to upgrade your OS version.

  2. How do I check or update my web browser (mobile or desktop)?
Open your browser’s Settings or Help menu and select ‘About [Browser Name]’ to see your current version. If an update is available, follow the prompts to install it, or visit the browser’s official website or app store to download the latest version.

  3. I’m unable to update my mobile device’s OS. What should I do?
You may need to check if your mobile device is compatible with the required OS version.

  4. What happens if I do not update my OS / web browser in time?
If your mobile device or browser isn’t updated, you may lose access to the platforms or have lower transaction limits when using the MAE app and Maybank2u web.

  5. Why can only certain OS / browser versions be used?
The newer operating systems and browsers have the latest security features and fixes that keep your banking safe. Older versions no longer receive security updates, which makes them more vulnerable to risks like malware or unauthorised access.

  6. My mobile device is old and not eligible for an OS update. What should I do?
We strongly encourage you to download our online banking apps on a compatible mobile device with the required OS versions. If you are upgrading to a new device, kindly be reminded that you are required to activate Secure2u again, either at a Maybank ATM (for MAE app users) or directly in the app (for M2U Biz and M2E users). There will be a minimum 12-hour cooling-off period before Secure2u can be used on the new device.

  7. How does the 24-hour combined transaction limit of RM20,000 work?
For devices running on older OS such as Android 9, Android 10, iOS 14 and iOS 15, any transactions made via the MAE app and the Maybank2u website are subject to the combined transaction limit of RM20,000 within a 24-hour period. This includes both successful and unsuccessful attempts.

  8. What happens if I reach the 24-hour combined transaction limit of RM20,000?
Once the RM20,000 combined transaction limit is reached within a 24-hour period, you will not be able to perform any further transactions for the next 24 hours. Any subsequent attempts made will be unsuccessful and will cause the 24-hour period to restart. We recommend avoiding any transaction attempts and wait for the limit to reset.

After the 24-hour period ends, your combined transaction limit will reset and be made available again. The table below is an illustration of how the combined transaction limit is calculated:

    Time

    Transaction Amount

    Remaining Combined Transaction  Limit

    Unsuccessful

(Exceeds the RM20,000 limit, hence the 24-hour period will restart for security purposes. The transaction limit will reset and be made available again on Wednesday, 6.30pm)

    RM500

    RM0

(Still within the 24-hour period restriction, as the last transaction attempt made on Tuesday, 6.30pm was unsuccessful.

Please note that this Tuesday, 10.00pm attempt will also restart the 24-hour period. You will now only be able to make a transaction after 10.00pm on Wednesday.)
