Datuk Mohaiyani was appointed the Chairman of Maybank Investment Bank on 1 March 2016. She was also appointed as Non-Independent Non-Executive Director (Chairman) on 28 April 2017
She was with Amanah Chase Merchant Bank Berhad and Seagroatt & Campbell before starting her own stockbroking company, Mohaiyani Securities Sdn Bhd in 1985, where she assumed the role of Managing Director.
During her active involvement in the stockbroking industry, she was appointed as Deputy Chairman of Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange (now known as Bursa Malaysia Berhad) and Chairman of Association of Stockbroking Companies Malaysia.
She has also served as a member of several high level national working groups such as National Economic Action Council (NEAC), National Economic Consultative Council II (MAPENII), National Information Technology Council (NITC), Ministry of Finance High Level Finance Committee for Corporate Governance, National Advisory Council for Women and the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development.
Her other directorships within Maybank Group include Chairman of Maybank Asset Management Group Berhad, Maybank Asset Management Sdn Bhd as well as Director of Maybank. At present, she serves as a Director of the Capital Market Development Fund, and is also a member and trustee of the National Heart Institute Foundation, NUR Foundation, Perdana Leadership Foundation and National Council of Woman's Organisation Malaysia (NCWO).
Dato’ Muzaffar was appointed as Non-Independent Executive Director of Maybank Investment Bank Berhad on 3 August 2017. He is also the Group Head, Global Banking of Maybank Group.
Dato’ Muzaffar has more than 20 years of experience in banking and financial services. He started his career in the Corporate Banking division at Asian International Merchant Bankers Berhad. He later joined Amanah Merchant Bank Berhad and Amanah Short Deposits Berhad, where he was extensively involved in corporate debt and financing businesses, from debt syndication to advising on private debt securities. Dato’ Muzaffar was also involved in several key debt and corporate restructuring exercises during the 1997 financial crisis. During his tenure at CIMB Investment Bank Berhad and HSBC Amanah Malaysia Berhad, Dato’ Muzaffar oversaw the investment banking business.
Dato’ Muzaffar was previously the Group Head, Islamic Banking of Maybank Group, and Chief Executive Officer of Maybank Islamic Berhad from March 2011 till end June 2016. He was also named ‘Islamic Banker of the Year’ by The Asset Triple A in 2013 for his contributions to the global development of the Islamic finance industry and growing Maybank Group’s Islamic banking business.
His other directorships within Maybank Group include Maybank Kim Eng Holdings Limited, Maybank Asset Management Group Berhad, and ANFAAL Capital (Saudi Arabia).
Hans Johan Patrik Sandin was appointed a Director of Maybank Investment Bank on 20 May 2015.
Patrik Sandin has 23 years of working experience in international financial markets, a strong expertise in derivatives, coupled with a good knowledge of the evolving market infrastructure and regulations.
He started his banking career in 1991 at Union Bank of Switzerland, Zurich. In 1993 he moved to Singapore where he served in various roles, focusing on Asian emerging market debts, equity and derivatives products.
In 1998 Patrik Sandin joined BNP Paribas, London in the Fixed Income division, where he was tasked with building up the structuring teams, culminating in his appointment as Global Head of Fixed Income Structuring in 2006. In 2010, he transferred to Hong Kong and was appointed Head of Fixed Income Distribution & Origination, Asia-Pacific ex Japan. Patrik Sandin's last role was as Head, Strategic Hedging Advisory, Investment Banking, before his retirement in April 2014.
Goh Ching Yin was appointed an Independent Non-Executive Director to the Board of Maybank Investment Bank on 25 July 2016.
He holds an MBA from the Cranfield University, and has held various leadership and management positions in investment banking, regional business development, strategic consultancy, corporate recovery and insolvency, and auditing. He started his professional career with Peat Marwick Mitchell (now known as KPMG), and then moved on to consultancy at Price Waterhouse Associates.
Goh Ching Yin later started his foray into the investment banking industry when he was with RHB Sakura Merchant Bankers Berhad as a General Manager for Corporate Finance. Subsequently, he assumed the roles as the Managing Director of Corporate Finance with the BNP Paribas Group in Malaysia, and the Chief Executive Officer of Southern Investment Bank of the Southern Bank Group. He then held positions as Executive Director in the Chairman’s Office, Strategy and Development, and Market Oversight Divisions during his stint with the Securities Commission of Malaysia.
Dato’ Abdul Hamid Sheikh Mohamed was appointed an Independent Non-Executive Director to the Board of Maybank Investment Bank on 26 October 2017.
Dato’ Abdul Hamid is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and a graduate of Emile Woolf School of Accountancy in London. With over 30 years of experience, he first started his career in the accounting firm, Messrs Lim Ali & Co/Arthur Young (now known as Ernst & Young) before joining Bumiputra Merchant Bankers Berhad (now known as Alliance Investment Bank Berhad) and Amanah Capital Malaysia Berhad. Dato’ Abdul Hamid subsequently joined the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange (KLSE) (now known as Bursa Securities), where he held various key roles including Chief Financial Officer. During his 5 year tenure there, he led KLSE’s acquisitions of the Kuala Lumpur Options and Financial Futures Exchange (KLOFFE) and the Commodity and Monetary Exchange of Malaysia (COMMEX), and their merger to form the Malaysia Derivatives Exchange (MDEX). Dato’ Abdul Hamid also led the acquisition of the Malaysian Exchange of Securities Dealing and Automated Quotation (MESDAQ), as well as the KLSE’s demutualisation exercise.
Currently, Dato’ Abdul Hamid is the Executive Director of Symphony House Sdn Bhd, a position he held since 2003 until present. He also sits on the boards of several public listed companies such as MMC Corporation Berhad, Pos Malaysia Berhad, Scomi Group Berhad, and Marine & General Berhad (formerly known as Silk Holdings Berhad).
Dato’ Sri Sharifah Sofianny Syed Hussain was appointed as an Independent Director to the Board of Maybank Investment Bank Berhad on 4 December 2017.
Dato’ Sri Sharifah holds a degree in Accounting from the University of Missouri, Columbia, USA and is an alumna of the prestigious London Business School. She has 18 years of experience holding various leadership roles in stockbroking and wholesale banking businesses. She started her career with Shell Malaysia and left after 11 distinguished years to begin a career in stockbroking at K&N Kenanga Berhad and JF Apex Securities. In 2011, Dato’ Sri Sharifah joined Maybank Investment Bank Berhad as Deputy Managing Director, Equities, and rose to become Managing Director, Head of Institutional Equities. During her tenure in Maybank, she spearheaded numerous restructuring initiatives leading to many major accounts being successfully elevated to top-tier positions, and which saw Maybank receiving various prestigious awards such as the AsiaMoney Awards for the Most Improved Brokerage for two consecutive years, Best Overall Sales Services, and Best Execution in Malaysia.
Dato’ Sri Sharifah stepped into the role of Managing Director of Client Coverage (Public), at Maybank Global Banking in early 2014. She formulated business strategies and led initiatives to build and grow Maybank's client network within the ASEAN region. She had built strong relationships to drive consistency in service quality, delivery enhancements, and comprehensive solutions to increase wallet share.
Dato’ Sri Sharifah currently sits on the Board of Petroliam Nasional Berhad (Petronas), and the Board of ValueCap Asset Managers Sdn. Bhd. She is also Chairman to the Industry Advisory Panel for Bachelor of Finance at Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN).
Che Zakiah Che Din was appointed as an Independent Non-Executive Director of Maybank Investment Bank effective 26th October 2018.
She holds a Bachelor Degree in Economics from University of Malaya and has more than 30 years of banking experience working exclusively with Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM).
Che Zakiah commenced her career with BNM in the Economics Department in 1982. She has held various other positions within BNM throughout her tenure, before retiring as the Director of Financial Conglomerates Supervision Department on 1st May 2017. In her role as Director of Financial Conglomerates Supervision, Che Zakiah oversaw the implementation of prudential supervision of eight domestic banking groups on a consolidated basis. The consolidated supervision covered banks and non-bank entities of the banking groups, including domestic and overseas operations of the groups, and focused on the enforcement of the prudential regulations and measures to mitigate Anti-Money Laundering and combating the financing of terrorism.
Che Zakiah currently sits on the board of Malayan Banking Berhad (Maybank) as well as the Audit Committee, Credit Review Committee and Compliance Committee of the Board of Maybank. She was appointed as Public Interest Director of Federation of Investment Managers Malaysia (formerly known as Federation of Unit Trust Managers) on 27th November 2017.
