• Malayan Banking Berhad (Maybank) acquired 60% equity stake in PNB Republic Bank, renamed the bank MAYBANK PHILIPPINES, INC. (MPI) and took over its management

• Maybank bought PNB's remaining shareholdings in MPI to increase ownership stake to 99.6%
