The Skim Simpanan Pendidikan Nasional (SSPN) or National Education Savings Scheme is a savings plan specially designed by Perbadanan Tabung Pendidikan Tinggi Nasional (PTPTN) or the National Higher Education Fund Corporation to enable parents/guardians to invest for their children's higher education.

Objective

  1. To assist parents in making systematic financial planning for their children's higher education.
  2. To inculcate the culture and habit of saving among parents and students.
  3. To overcome financial problems faced by parents and students, especially those with low incomes.

Eligibility

Following are the 3 categories of depositors that are eligible to open SSPN account:

Category Descriptions
1 Account can be opened by parents/guardian or other Malaysian citizen for any Malaysian citizen below 18 years, and are eligible for the account until the age of 28 (inclusive of one day before age 29).
2 Malaysian citizen aged 18 years and above are given the choice to open the account under their own name or an account opened by their parents/guardian

Note:   An individual aged below 18 years is not eligible to open SSPN account under their own name.
3 Malaysian citizen aged 29 years and above must open the account under their own name.

Note:   Non-citizens or permanent residents are not eligible even though their children are born in Malaysia.

Customers can open SSPN account at any Maybank branch and also make deposits with these channels:

2. Automated Teller Machine (ATM)

4. Internet Banking (Maybank2u)
