Maybankard Touch ‘n Go Zing Offers
Auto-Reload Convenience to Touch ‘n Go cardholders

Maybank today launched the Maybankard Touch ‘n Go Zing that provides automatic reload convenience of the Touch ‘n Go card.

The Maybankard Touch ‘n Go Zing is a companion card that is linked to either the Maybankard Visa or Mastercard credit card. It is a contactless smartcard, which has a microchip and antenna embedded in it. This allows for an auto reload feature that provides a RM100 top-up value to the Maybankard Touch ‘n Go Zing card when the card value falls below RM50.00.

The new Maybankard Touch ‘n Go Zing works the same way as the conventional Touch ‘n Go card where the cardholder needs to touch the card at the Touch ‘n Go reader. It can be used at all toll plazas, including on the SMART tag device for greater convenience and time savings. It can also be used at other outlets with Touch ‘n Go facilities such as at LRT stations, selected theme parks such as Bukit Merah Lake Resort, Sunway Theme Park and selected parking areas such as 1Utama shopping mall and Subang Parade. At the moment, the Zing card can only be activated and the auto-reload performed at the toll plazas.

At the launch of Maybankard Touch ‘n Go Zing held at PLUS Expressway Berhad Toll Plaza at Sungai Besi were Encik Ashraf Ali Kadir, Executive Vice President and Head of Cards Business Group of Maybank, Datuk Yahya Yaakob, Chairman of Rangkaian Segar Sdn Bhd, the Touch ‘n Go service operator and Encik Rosli Shafie its Director, as well as Puan Khalilah Dato’ Mohd Talha, Deputy General Manager of PLUS Expressway Berhad.

"Linked to either the Maybankard Visa or Mastercard credit card, the Maybankard Touch ‘n Go Zing customer can enjoy automatic reloads without having to use cash. This auto reload facility therefore provides our customers greater peace of mind and convenience without having to worry about insufficient card balance and the hassle of going to the counters to reload their card," said Encik Ashraf in his address.

"The card will reach out to over 1 million of our credit card customers and we anticipate there will be greater use of the card by customers which can help reduce toll queues. For outlets offering Touch ‘n Go facilities, they will gain from the speed and security of this cashless form of payment which will enhance their operational efficiency," added Encik Ashraf.

There is a nominal one-time issuance fee of RM10 for the Zing card and a RM2 fee for each automatic reload. The Touch ‘n Go reload transaction will be billed to the cardholder through their credit card statements. Customers who lose their Maybankard Touch ‘n Go Zing will be able to request for a replacement as well as obtain a refund on any remaining unused amount in the previous card after deducting the nominal processing fee. In conjunction with the launch, the first 1,000 successful Zing card applicants can purchase the Smart Tag at an attractive price of RM88 only.

Datuk Yahya Yaacob, Chairman of Rangkaian Segar Sdn Bhd, said he believes Maybank will help make Touch ‘n Go Zing available to a bigger number of users.

"To date, we have around 100,000 Touch ‘n Go auto reload cards in the market. This number is very small indeed and accounts for less than 2% of the total six million credit cards customers reported by Bank Negara Malaysia in 2004. We look forward to our partnership with banks such as Maybank to gain access to more credit card users to use the convenience of the Touch ‘n Go card," he said.

Maybank also provides reload of the conventional Touch ‘n Go cards at over 500 selected Maybank ATM machines nationwide.

Customers can apply for Maybankard Touch ‘n Go Zing at any branches nationwide or at www.maybank2u.com. More information can also be obtained by calling Maybank’s Help Desk number 1-300-88-6688. The public can also log on to Touch ‘N Go Careline Centre at Tel no : 03-7628 5115 or at www.touchngo.com.my.
