Corporate Profile
of the Company
Mayban Investment is a fund management company licensed
under the Securities Industry Act, 1983. It is the
fund management arm of the Maybank Group. It is owned
by Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) (61.5%) and Aseambankers
Malaysia Bhd (38.5%).
The Company was established on 5 March 1997. The formation
of the Company is as a result of the group’s
decision to corporatise the investment department
of Aseambankers, which started operations in 1975.
When Mayban Investment commenced operations in January
1998, it assumed the assets and liabilities of the
investment department of Aseambankers.
MIM offers a wide range of portfolio management products
and services, relating to investments in:

ii) Fixed income / debt securities

The Investment Policy of Mayban
Investment is to implement a specifically tailored
investment plan to achieve the highest probability
of investment return from the clients’
portfolios of securities. The Investment Policy
takes into consideration the direct correlation
between risk and return for any investment alternative.
The Investment Policy requires the CIO and the
Investment Committee to:

employ strategies for maximum
capital protection through diversification
and appropriate risk acceptance strategies
for optimal return on investment; |

oversee the asset allocation
between various forms of investments made
to meet the Investment Objectives of the
respective clients; |

review and change the asset
allocation regularly in response to changes
in interest rates, economic and stock market
conditions; and |
| • |
review the investment results
regularly against the performance of benchmark
indices. |

| Results will be evaluated on a
time-weighted rate of return basis and/or as per
clients’ specific requirements. The designated
Fund Managers also evaluate the Funds for compliance
with their specific Investment Objectives. |

Mayban Investment operates on
a combination of top-down and bottom-up approach
based on in-depth economic research and market
valuation criteria.
The formulation of the Investment Strategy would
be based on the Investment Objective and risks
tolerance of the clients.
The Investment Committee consists of the CEO,
the CIO, the Head of Investment Research and
Senior Management of Mayban Investment and meets
weekly. The Committee reviews and evaluates
asset allocation, stock selection to ensure
optimum investment returns for funds under management.
Risk Management is integrated in the compliance
guidelines of Mayban Investment with the setting
of single group limit, sectoral limit, single
company limit and a cut loss policy.

MIM BLUE CHIPS
MIM Blue Chips is a portfolio designed for investors
who wish to participate in the growth of the
Malaysian economy through investments in the
shares of “blue chip” companies
listed on the Main Board of Bursa Malaysia.
The mandate authorises MIM to invest in the
shares and equity-linked instruments of companies
with large market capitalisation, commonly known
as blue chips.
Asset allocation. For MIM Blue Chips,
the minimum exposure in equity shall be, at
all times, 30% of the portfolio value, while
the maximum is set at 95%. Mayban Investment
utilises a combination of “top-down”
fundamental and technical analysis to decide
on its asset allocation strategy.
Benchmark. Kuala Lumpur Composite Index
(KLCI) - For Conventional Mandates and Kuala
Lumpur Syariah Index (KLSI) - For Syariah Compliant
Mandates

MIM DIVIDEND YIELDERS
MIM Dividend Yielders is a portfolio designed
for investors who wish to participate in the
Malaysian equity market, but require a consistent
annual payout as well as capital growth. The
mandate authorises MIM to invest in:

shares of companies that
have a good track record of dividend payout
and have paid a minimum 2.5% net dividend
in the most recent financial year. This
is referred to as Income Stocks. |

shares of blue chip Malaysian
companies that are fundamentally sound and
have paid dividend in the most recent financial
year. This is referred to as Core Stocks. |
Asset allocation. For
MIM Dividend Yielders, the minimum exposure
in equity shall be, at all times, 30% of the
portfolio value, while the maximum is set at
95%. MIM utilises a combination of “top-down”
fundamental and technical analyses to decide
on its asset allocation strategy. It applies
rigorous applications of macro modeling and
technical readings to decide on a proper level
of exposure to equity at any particular point
in time. More often than not, current market
sentiments are also taken into consideration.

MIM EQUITY
GROWTH
MIM Equity Growth is a mandate to invest in
the shares of a diversified portfolio of companies
listed on Bursa Malaysia. These are companies,
which have demonstrated their ability to record
and to sustain strong growth in their earnings.
It is designed to achieve capital appreciation
over a three-year period.

mandate is designed for aggressive investors
whose appetite for risks are relatively
high. These are investors who: |

seek capital appreciation
over the long-term; |

do not seek current income
from their investment; and |
| • |
|
wish to add to their investment
portfolio a mandate that emphasizes a growth
style of investing in a portfolio of equities |
Asset allocation. For
MIM Equity Growth, the minimum exposure in equity
shall be, at all times, 10% of the portfolio
value, while the maximum is set at 95%. As an
aggressive mandate, the fluctuation in the exposure
within the aforementioned range is expected
to be high.

MIM FIXED
INCOME
MIM Fixed Income is a portfolio that invests
in investment-grade fixed-income (debt) securities
issued by the government or companies that are
deemed to be fundamentally safe and sound. The
aim of MIM Fixed Income is to preserve the principal
investment whilst targeting to achieve a rate
of return that is better than the prevailing
fixed deposit rates.
| Asset
allocation. Mayban Investment adopts
a disciplined approach in asset allocation,
which aims at optimum diversification.
We employ portfolio diversification as
a means to minimise risks. Portfolio diversification
is made in the following manner: |

Investments are made in
several debt securities depending on the
size of the fund. Normally, for a RM1million
investment, the investor will have 3 - 4
bonds in the portfolio basket. In addition,
maximum exposure to a single paper is 30%
of portfolio value; |
| ii. |

Investments are made in
different ratings of debt securities; and |
| iii. |
|
Investments are made in
different tenures of debt securities.
Unutilised cash balance will be placed in
money market instruments (i.e. repo). |

MIM BOND SELECT
MIM Bond Select is a non-discretionary portfolio
of Mayban Investment. This means that the clients
undertake investment decisions at their own
discretion. Mayban Investment selects fixed
income instruments (bonds) of certain grade
and quality, and offers them to high net worth
individuals. The buyer is expected to hold the
bond to maturity and during the holding period,
the investor will enjoy periodical coupon payments.
Clients will be furnished with a bond fact
sheet to facilitate their decision-making
process. The fact sheet will make it easier
to conduct own evaluation before making any
investment decision on a particular bond.
Benchmark. Maybank’s 12-month fixed
deposit rate.
