Transaction Authorisation Code (TAC)

With effect from 7 May, 2004, an online security feature known as Transaction Authorisation Code (TAC) has been introduced at Maybank2u.com. The introduction of TAC is part of our ongoing commitment to implement best practices to protect the safety and security of our customers when performing online banking transactions at Maybank2u.com

In addition to your Username and Password required to log into Maybank2u.com, the TAC will provide a second layer of authentication (identification) as a security check before you perform specific transactions.

What is Transaction Authorisation Code (TAC)?
The Transaction Authorisation Code (TAC) is a unique, 6-digit code that will be a compulsory requirement for specific online transactions. The TAC is computer-generated and as added precaution, it:
1.  can only be used with your own Maybank2u.com login username and password
2.  is valid for 2 hours upon request
3.  is valid for only two hours once you have activated it.

When is TAC required?
The table shows the current transactions that require TAC.
1. 3rd Party Accounts and Interbank GIRO Accounts Maintenance
To add a new beneficiary/beneficiaries
2. Bill Registration
To add a new payee corporation or bill to your "Registered Payment" list
3. eSI Maintenance
To add 3rd Party transfer/payment
4. Foreign Telegraphic Transfer (Favourite TT and other accounts)
To transfer funds overseas
5. Funds Transfer to 3rd Party Accounts/Interbank Funds Transfer
To transfer funds to accounts (immediate and future date) not in your Favourite Accounts Maintenance list.
6. Mobile Financial Services
Registration/Account Maintenance,
Favourites List
 7. Online payment via Maybank2u.com at other web sites
8. Open Payment
For payment to any payee corporation not in your "Registered Payment" list

Apart from the above, TAC is currently NOT required for all other transactions at Maybank2u.com. However, you will be informed if new transactions require TAC.

How to request for TAC
You can request for a TAC through 3 channels and each channel will provide the TAC as follows:
•  via Maybank2u.com – your TAC will be sent via SMS to your registered mobile phone
•  via Kawanku ATM – on screen and printed out on the ATM slip
•  via Kawanku Phone Banking – via integrated voice response (IVR) or fax, if you use fax/phone

How does TAC work?
•  You must request for a TAC before you can do any transaction which requires TAC.
•  You will be required to enter a TAC in order to proceed with the transaction.
•  TAC will expire after 2 hours if you do not use it, upon request. Once it is activated, you may still use it for another 2 hours. You may perform several transactions with the same TAC.
•  If your TAC expires or you forget the 6-digit code, you must apply for a new one.

One TAC – Multiple Transactions
You do not need a TAC everytime you login. You can use one TAC to register multiple 3rd party accounts and bills. Subsequently, these registered transactions will not require TAC. You only require a TAC again when you want to add new accounts and bills or for ad hoc transfers.
